
George Morrow became Amgen’s executive vice president of Worldwide Sales and Marketing in January 2001. From April 2003 to May 2010 he was executive vice president, Global Commercial Operations. In May 2010, Morrow announced his intention to retire from Amgen, effective January 31, 2011. Until that time, Morrow will hold the title Executive Vice President and will work on commercial launch activities and other strategic projects. From January 1999 to December 2000, Morrow was president and chief executive officer of Glaxo Wellcome Inc., a subsidiary of GlaxoSmithKline plc. From January 1997 to December 1998, Morrow was managing director of Glaxo Wellcome U.K., also a subsidiary of GlaxoSmithKline plc. From May 1993 to December 1996, Morrow was group vice president for Commercial Operations of Glaxo. Morrow is a member of the Duke University Fuqua School of Business Advisory Board and Medical Center Board of Visitors. He has also served on numerous boards for GlaxoWellcome, and Johns Hopkins School of Public Health.
