
2010 WasteWatch Award was given to Amgen Thousand Oaks for outstanding achievements in waste reduction and recycling. From 2007 to 2009, Amgen Thousand Oaks has reduced the amount of waste they send to the landfill by more than 500 metric tons.
2009 King County Industrial Waste Program Gold Award for perfect compliance with wastewater permits in 2009 was awarded to Amgen Washington’s Bothell site by the King County Industrial Waste Program.
2009 Waste Reduction Award was presented to Amgen South San Francisco. California’s Integrated Waste Management Board recognized the site for diverting 70 metric tons of waste materials from landfills.
2009 Center for ReSource Conservation Waste Reduction Award, the state’s most prestigious award for the conservation of natural resources, was presented to Amgen Colorado.
2009 Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority Award for Responsible Water Reuse was awarded to Amgen Puerto Rico’s water recycling program. The site installed a state-of-the-art water treatment plant in 2007, which now reuses up to 70 percent of the site’s wastewater.
2009 Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority Award was presented to Amgen Puerto Rico for maintaining perfect compliance with its wastewater discharge permit in 2008.
2008 Commitment-to-Compliance Award was awarded to Amgen Washington Bothell campus by King County. The campus had earned a Gold Award for five consecutive years for compliance with the city’s wastewater discharge program.
2008 Senator John H. Chafee Conservation Leadership Award was given to Amgen Rhode Island for the site’s resource conservation program. The program is focused on two areas: reducing energy consumption and reducing waste.
2008 City of Boulder Perfect Wastewater Compliance Award for perfect compliance was awarded to Amgen Colorado. Awards were presented to facilities that had no violations of their Industrial Wastewater Discharge Permit during 2007. This was the seventh year in a row the site received the award.
2008 Puerto Rico Manufacturer’s Association Award for Best Water Conservation Project — a second- place award was presented to Amgen Puerto Rico for their wastewater reuse project.
2008 Community Transit “Employer of the Year” Award was given to Amgen Washington for its alternative commute initiatives at its site in Bothell. Community Transit noted that the site has one of the lowest rates of single occupancy vehicle commuters in Snohomish County.
2008 State of Washington, Governor’s Smart Commute Award went to Amgen Washington for an employee transportation program that reduces drive-alone commuting.
2007 Flex Your Power Honorable Mention Award for education and leadership was presented to Amgen Thousand Oaks for demonstrating leadership and results in saving energy.
2006 EPA WasteWise Award, Large Business Partner of the Year for the best overall waste reduction achievements for the year including reallocation and donation of lab equipment, donation of computer equipment to schools, and donation of leftover food to a local food bank.
2006 Union Sanitary District Certificate of Merit was presented to Amgen Fremont in recognition of consistent compliance with industrial pretreatment regulations and for ongoing efforts to protect the environment. This was the fourth consecutive year the site was awarded.
2006 King County Industrial Waste Program Gold Award for perfect compliance with wastewater permits in 2006 was awarded to Amgen Washington sites in both Bothell and Seattle by the King County Industrial Waste Program. This was the third year in a row that Bothell earned the award and the first year that the Seattle Helix site was recognized.
